The revised second edition of the technical guide „Metals and alloys used in food contact materials and articles“ published by the Council of Europe represents a substantial update compared to the first edition from 2013. The technical guide is intended to harmonize requirements and enforcement activities for food contact materials made from metals and alloys at the European level.

Following the begin of the application of Regulation (EU) 2019/1381 on the transparency and sustainability of the EU risk assessment in the food chain from 27 March 2021, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) updated several administrative and scientific guidance documents.

meyer.science attended the international symposium on metals and alloys in contact with food jointly organized by the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines and HealthCare (EDQM) and the Slovenian health authorities on 6/7 November 2014 in Ljubljana.
